Friends and Neighbors,

In my last email update, I provided you a recap of the 2024 legislative session that ended on March 7 — including details on the three state supplemental budgets and updates on the six initiatives considered by the Legislature. Since then, I have participated in forums regarding the outcomes of the 60-day legislative session and been out in our communities meeting with groups and individuals on a variety of issues of concern, intermixed with various legislative meetings. It feels good to be spending more time back in our communities.

I also recently joined my 20th District seatmates, Rep. Peter Abbarno and Sen. John Braun, to create a newsletter for constituents that shares details on the 2024 legislative session. This newsletter will arrive in district mailboxes in the upcoming days. In it, we talk about important wins for our district, provide details on the state budgets, highlight bad bills that were stopped, and discuss a few disappointments and missed opportunities. You can find an electronic version of our newsletter here:

Upcoming election-year restrictions

On Monday, May 6, election-year restrictions begin. These are rules that limit the use of state resources by state representatives and their staff in election years. This means I will not be able to send you email updates like this one until after the November general election results are certified by the Secretary of State.

These election-year restrictions apply to all of my legislative communications, including statements, news releases, videos, radio appearances, and other activities. There are some exceptions, including if a special session is called.

However, I am still allowed to respond to constituents who contact me via email, phone, or letters. And I welcome you to do so. Please remember: Even though the legislative session has concluded, I am your state representative all year. You can contact me anytime with your ideas, concerns, and questions. I will respond as quickly as I can.

In closing, thank you for taking time out of your day to read my email updates over the last several months. I appreciate your interest and involvement in the legislative process and the decisions being made in Olympia.

It is an honor to serve the people and communities of the 20th District. Thank you.
