Statement from Rep. Ed Orcutt, Chair of the Washington State Economic and Revenue Forecast Council, on the state revenue forecast
Key facts:
- The Economic and Revenue Forecast Council released its state revenue forecast today.
- The Near General Fund-State (Near GF-S) revenue forecast for the 2017-19 biennium has increased by $307 million, and revenue for the 2019-21 biennium has increased by $553.5 million.
- Current state spending: $44.4 billion. Revenue available for the 2019-21 biennium: $50.6 billion.
Statement from Rep. Ed Orcutt, Chair of the Washington State Economic and Revenue Forecast Council, on the state revenue forecast:
“I am pleased to see that the economy is still growing and producing more revenue for our state. However, we know these economic conditions will not last forever.
“As budget writers develop our next state spending plan, they must be fiscally responsible. Our state needs to live within its means and fund its priorities within existing revenue. There is no reason to raise taxes.”
