Statement from Rep. Ed Orcutt on the state revenue forecast
Rep. Ed Orcutt, R-Kalama and member of the Economic and Revenue Forecast Council, released the following statement on the state revenue forecast today:
“The state revenue forecast revealed more good news for budget writers as tax collections remain strong. The bad news is many Washingtonians are feeling the pain of inflation, higher gas prices, and other economic pressures. I will repeat what House Republicans have been saying all year: It is time for meaningful tax relief. I continue to believe that property tax relief would help individuals, families, and employers across our state. We have offered ideas on how to do this, including bills that have already been introduced, and I welcome a discussion on these options.
“It is clear the Legislature can provide people with real financial relief this legislative session without jeopardizing important state programs and services or tapping the rainy-day fund. We just need for the majority to pass these tax-relief bills.”
